The Construction/Manufacturing Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing job costing, project budget tracking, and accounting support functions for a growing construction and prefabrication company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial data related to projects, monitoring job profitability, supporting operational decision-making, and helping leadership maintain strong financial controls.

The ideal candidate has experience in construction accounting and job costing, understands project financial management, and can work closely with project managers, operations, purchasing, and leadership teams to improve budget accuracy and profitability

Essential Duties (Core Competencies):

Job Cost & Project Budget Oversight:

Maintain accurate job costing for all construction and prefabrication projects

Track and analyze:

Labor costs

Material costs

Subcontractor costs

Equipment expenses

Freight and shipping costs

Overhead allocations

Monitor projects budgets versus actual costs

Assist in developing and maintain project budgets

Work closely with project managers and operations teams to identify cost overruns and budget concerns

Review purchase orders and vendor commitments against project budgets

Assist with monthly project financial reviews

Support forecasting of projects margins and cash flow needs

WIP Reporting & Financial Analysis:

Prepare and maintain accurate Work In Progress (WIP) schedules

Track percentage-of-completion reporting and project revenue recognition

Assist leadership in evaluating:

Cost-to-complete estimates

Earned revenue

Underbillings and overbillings

Estimated final project margins

Generate weekly and monthly project financial reports for management review

Provide analysis on project performance trends and cost drivers

Develop reporting tools and dashboards to improve operational visibility

Assist with forecasting company backlog, cash flow, and project profitability

Budgeting & Operational Support

Participate in project startup meetings to establish financial tracking requirements

Assist estimating and project management teams with budget setup and cost planning

Review change orders and assist with tracking approved and pending changes

Coordinate with purchasing and operations to verify pricing and material cost accuracy

Assist in evaluating vendor pricing, material usage, and purchasing trends

Support inventory and material tracking procedures within fabrication and warehouse operations

Help establish operational controls to improve project efficiency and accountability

Accounting & Financial Support:

Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

Reconcile job cost reports to general ledger activity

Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes related to project accounting

Assist with payroll allocation and labor costing

Maintain accurate cost coding and project financial records

Support sales tax and multi-state construction reporting requirements and filings

Assist external CPA firms and auditors with financial documentation and tax filings

Assist with licensing for projects

Help maintain accounting procedures and internal controls

Assist in monthly forecasting and projections

Complete prequalification’s for jobs as needed

Operational & Process Improvement:

Manage and provide the monthly status on the bad-debt write-off process and provide recommendations for reserve accruals.

Manage and provide monthly status reports on the release of bonds, liens, and all other related processes pertaining to cash and contract receivables.

Manage the job status from active, to inactive, to closed, and issue status reports monthly. 

Help improve job cost tracking systems and reporting accuracy

Assist leadership with financial analysis and operational reporting

Develop and maintain project cost tracking tools and dashboards

Improve documentation and purchasing controls

Assist with materials, tools, equipment, and physical inventories, and cycle count as needed.

Learn, understand, and support inventory management procedures and accounting.

Assist with records retention maintenance.

Provide payables and capital data for audits (insurance, state, internal).

Follow up on vendor inquiries from vendors and/or employees.

Establish new state/local reporting requirements, as necessary (includes online setup, maintaining a log of account numbers, filing requirements, and deadlines).

Follow standard operating procedures to ensure employees can complete tasks successfully.

Backup payroll timecard processing, as needed.

Backup billing functions and accounts payable functions, as needed.

Backup purchasing functions, as needed.

Backup project management assistant functions for payables, as needed.

Assist/provide expertise in setting up Excel files for various departments throughout the company.

Provide training to other employees pertaining to Foundation, Excel, and other useful reporting tools to improve business knowledge.

General Summary of Position

The Field Structural Welder (SMAW/Stick) position is expected to produce welds that support the installation of exterior and interior wall panels for commercial buildings.

• Perform welds using stick and mig processes in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Current AWS D1. 1 SMAW 3G and AWS D1. 1 SMAW 4G certifications, AWS D1. 5 SMAW 3G and 4G preferred.
• Maneuver units into position for installation and anchor the units.
• Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, or drills.
• Assist foreman with proper layout for work to be put in place.

• Work at heights with several elevated platforms.

General Summary of Position

The Acoustical / Suspended Ceiling Specialist is expected to apply plasterboard or other wallboard to ceilings or interior walls of buildings. They may also apply or mount acoustical tiles or blocks, strips, or sheets of shock-absorbing materials to ceilings and walls of buildings to reduce or reflect sound. 

Essential Functions:

• Accurately measure height, width, length, and other proportions, including but not limited to establishing correct ceiling heights.

• Basic material take-off to ensure proper material selection and quantity needed.

• Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.

• Read blueprints and perform proper layout for work to be put in place.

• Examine blueprints and specifications to determine types of grid and tiles and where they are appropriately installed.

• Work with materials such as wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and/or drywall.

• Utilize appropriate tools to build or repair structural components

• Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.

• Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secure. 

• Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.

• Install all types of ceiling grid systems (standard, slotted, and specialty products)

• Inspects drywall partitions, mechanical mountings, and masonry surface for plumb and level, using a laser level.

• Hang or mechanically fasten support wires for acoustical ceiling grid from building structure.

• Hangs dry lines (stretched string) to wall molding to guide positioning of main runners.

• Nails or screws molding to wall to support and seals joint between ceiling tile and wall.

• Scribes and cuts edges of tile to fit wall where wall molding is not specified.

• Measures and marks surface to lay out work according to blueprints and drawings.

• Install acoustical ceiling main runners and cross runners.

• Cuts tiles for fixture and borders, using keyhole saw, and inserts tiles into supporting framework.

• Erect scaffolding.

• Always exercise the proper use of PPE.

• Coordinate with other trades on project to ensure an efficient installation flow.

• Attend required safety training as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Knowledge and experience working with commercial carpentry tools and building materials

• Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE

• 2+ years commercial ceiling installation experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum or 4 years apprenticeship program in Carpentry

The Exterior ACM Panel Installer exists to safely install aluminum composite materials (ACMs) and insulated metal panels (IMPs) in commercial construction projects.

Essential (Core Competencies) Duties

• Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
• Measure and cut ACM panels to the appropriate size and shape.
• Select and prepare the necessary materials, including fasteners, adhesives, and sealants.
• Install ACM panels on building facades, signage, or other structures, ensuring alignment, level, and secure fastening.
• Secure panels with appropriate systems (e.g., rivets, screws, adhesives, or clip systems).
• Use safety equipment and procedures while working at heights or on scaffolding.
• Ensure all panels are installed with precision and meet aesthetic and functional requirements.
• Inspect finished installations for alignment, gaps, and any defects.
• Conduct routine quality checks to ensure work complies with safety and building codes.
• Assist with maintenance and repairs of installed ACM panels when needed.
• Troubleshoot any issues related to the installation or performance of the panels.
• Measure, cut, and install insulated metal panels (IMPs) on building exteriors, roofs, and walls. Ensure that panels are correctly aligned, fastened securely, and meet project specifications.
• Transport and manage materials, ensuring proper storage and handling to avoid damage. Safely transport panels to the installation location using cranes, lifts, or other equipment.
• Follow all safety regulations and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, safety shoes, and fall protection gear when working at heights.
• Prepare installation areas, including clearing debris, setting up scaffolding, or operating lifts and other tools to facilitate the installation of panels.
• Ensure that the panels are properly installed with attention to detail, ensuring a weather-tight seal, and correct alignment with the building structure.
• Inspect panels before and after installation for any defects, damages, or misalignments. Troubleshoot issues and correct any discrepancies during installation.
• Work with a team of installers, contractors, and project managers to ensure the project progresses smoothly and within the scheduled timeline.
• Maintain cleanliness on the job site and ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are kept in good working condition.
• Ensure all installation practices comply with local building codes, energy efficiency standards, and safety regulations.

Skills
